AIC Audio Player is a free and compact utility that plays back nearly all of the most widely used audio formats and codecs. It includes a fully-customizable 10-band equalizer and supports Winamp DSP plug-ins and playlists. You can use it to play both your uncompressed WAV or PCM files, and your lossy/lossless compressed audio files (MP3, WMA, FLAC, APE, etc.).
It comes with all the useful functionality that you would expect from any other audio player and a bunch of other utilities that you will not find in many other similar tools, such as its speed up/slow down playback function. This feature allows you to change the playback rate of any audio file from 0.15x to 1.84x without distorting its pitch to the point of making it impossible to follow. This becomes more evident when using speech recordings – where most audio players go berserk, AIC Audio Player offers you a clear playback experience.
Another noteworthy feature is its basic metadata and ID3 editor. Depending on the format of the audio file, you will be allowed to add ID3V1 and ID3V2.3 tags (for MP2 and MP3 files) or a basic set of track-related data (basically all other audio files), including fields like title, artists, subject, genre, or copyright status.
Finally, the way you interact with this audio player can be fully personalized by setting up its more than 20 hotkeys according to your preferences. With these combinations of keystrokes you can control nearly every function in the program, from the equalizer to the playlists.
